Workplace Savings at Tops and Aspire Achieves Strong Results

In April 2024 we partnered with Tops and Aspire to introduce a workplace savings scheme for their team. Nearly a year on the results have been very positive.

The aim was simple. Make saving easier by allowing employees to save directly from their pay. This approach removes the need to remember to transfer money each month and helps people build a regular saving habit with less effort. The feedback we have received shows that this is exactly what has happened.

Strong take up from staff

Since launch staff have joined the scheme steadily and many are now saving each month. We have seen people saving for holidays, Christmas, school costs and general peace of mind. The scheme has supported a wide range of needs and has become a useful part of the wider wellbeing support already provided by Tops and Aspire.

A number of employees have also opened ISAs which has helped them put money aside in a more structured way. Others have made use of our competitive loans. All of this has contributed to greater confidence around money and better financial stability for many of their colleagues.

Why it works

The success of this scheme comes down to its simplicity. Saving through payroll is predictable and easy to manage. Staff can start small, change the amount at any time and feel reassured that their savings are building quietly in the background.

It also reflects the values of both organisations. Tops and Aspire has a strong focus on supporting its team. As a mutual bank owned by its members we focus on practical solutions that improve resilience across our region. The workplace savings scheme brings both aims together in a way that delivers real and measurable benefit.

Looking ahead

We will continue to support staff who are part of the scheme and work with Tops and Aspire to ensure that the savings programme continues to grow. Over the coming year we expect more employees to join and to make use of the full range of savings and borrowing options available through Wessex Community Bank.

For employers

If you are an employer interested in offering a workplace savings scheme we would be pleased to talk to you. The process is straightforward and can make a meaningful difference to your team and your organisation.
